1. Overview

StudyVerse is a study productivity platform that lets users create accounts, run study timers, track streaks, earn in-app coins, review session history, manage study preferences, receive notifications, and collaborate on assignments. This Privacy Policy applies to the StudyVerse website, authenticated dashboard, and related product features currently available in the project.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly, information created while you use the product, and limited technical data required to keep the service secure and working.

• Account and sign-in data: your name, email address, hashed password, email verification status, one-time password data used for verification or password reset, and session-based authentication records.
• Social and passwordless sign-in data: if you sign in with Google or LinkedIn, we store the provider name, provider account ID, and provider avatar. If you use passkeys, passkey credentials are stored through the app’s WebAuthn implementation.
• Profile data: username, bio, avatar, cover photo, study level, class, major, address, phone number, date of birth, gender, interests, favorite subjects, social links, preferred study time, daily goals, and public profile settings.
• Study data: study subject, session start and end times, planned duration, actual study duration, break durations, number of breaks, session status, break activity history, last activity time, extension state, end reason, end source, recent sessions, exports, and statistics derived from your study activity.
• Streak and reward data: current streak, highest streak, restore dates, coin balances, coin earnings, coin spending, and coin transaction history.
• Assignment and collaboration data: assignment names, descriptions, due dates, subject, priority, submission format, team membership, topic assignments, chat messages, answers, logos, and uploaded files or attachments.
• Notification data: your channel preferences, notification type preferences, delivery settings, and device token if you enable push notifications.
• Technical and security data: IP address, browser or device user agent, session records, request logs, and other security-related activity needed to authenticate users, detect issues, and prevent misuse.

3. How We Use Information

We use your information to operate StudyVerse, personalize the experience, and secure the service.

• Create and manage your account, verify email ownership, and support login, password reset, social sign-in, and passkey access.
• Run study timers, record session history, calculate streaks, generate analytics, and update coin balances and rewards.
• Let you edit your profile, upload avatars or cover images, and manage study preferences and daily goals.
• Deliver email, push, or in-app style notifications based on your preferences, including timer alerts, break reminders, or system messages.
• Support assignment collaboration features such as team membership, messages, file uploads, answers, and topic assignment.
• Maintain security, troubleshoot bugs, investigate abuse, prevent duplicate session conflicts across devices, and improve feature reliability.

4. When We Share Information

We do not share your information broadly for unrelated marketing. We may share limited information only when needed to run the service.

• Authentication providers: if you choose social sign-in, Google or LinkedIn helps authenticate your account.
• Email providers: email delivery providers may process your email address and verification or password-reset messages.
• Notification infrastructure: if you enable push notifications, StudyVerse may use Firebase Cloud Messaging and related Google infrastructure to deliver them.
• Hosting, storage, and security vendors: service providers may process stored files, database records, logs, and backups on our behalf.
• Legal or security reasons: we may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users, enforce our Terms, or respond to abuse or security incidents.

5. Public Profiles and Collaboration

Some StudyVerse features involve visibility to other users.

• If you enable public profile features, your public username and selected profile information may be visible through your public profile page.
• Assignment collaboration features may expose your messages, files, answers, or team activity to other authorized assignment members.
• Please avoid uploading personal or sensitive information you do not want collaborators or permitted viewers to access.

6. Retention

We keep account, study, profile, and collaboration data for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward when needed for security, backups, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal compliance. Uploaded files, profile images, sessions, streaks, and coin history may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion or replacement.

7. Security

StudyVerse uses technical and organizational measures designed to protect your data, such as password hashing, authenticated access controls, session handling, and account verification flows. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect your password, passkeys, devices, and account access.

8. Your Choices

• You can update much of your profile, study settings, streak settings, notification preferences, and security settings from inside the product.
• You can upload or replace avatars and cover photos, and you can manage passkeys from security settings.
• You can choose whether to connect supported social accounts and whether to enable push notifications on your device.
• If you want to request deletion of your account or personal data that is not currently removable from the interface, contact us.
